Just when we thought Kim Kardashian was done rolling out Skims innovations for the foreseeable future, the viral brand unveiled its Iconic Swim collection today — and it features Skims’ first-ever convertible swim top that will become your favorite swimwear staple in short order.
This splash-making release comes on the heels of the Skims Summer Collection drop, marked by never-before-seen minidresses, strapless bodysuits with endless layering possibilities, a fresh, peachy colorway of the adored-by-all T-Shirt Bra, and other instant hits arriving just in time for rising temperatures. Just as buzzy was Skims’ 2025 Swim Shop announcement, heralded by steamy campaign shots starring Kardashian herself, as well as a 60-foot balloon installation in Times Square of her reposing body donning the Signature Swim Triangle Bikini Top and Signature Swim Tanga Bikini Bottom in a shade of Tide. Imagine our delight, then, at finding out this beach-ready collection was getting an expansion — a testament to the fact that there’s never a dull moment in Kim K’s universe of curve-hugging shapewear.
The crowning jewel of the new swim capsule, if you ask us, is the Iconic Swim Convertible Bandeau Bikini Top, which can be styled four different ways: going from a bandeau to a crop top to a tube top to a tankini with ease. This innate versatility is an absolute godsend for any frequent traveler, as the four-in-one purchase can maximize precious space in your overnight bag. It’s also just the thing to wear for laidback summer weekends during which you want to take a single item from the pool to brunch to happy-hour drinks and back again without a second thought.
As a bandeau, we envision it working seamlessly underneath a blazer: creating a lighter take on the corp-core trend that Kate Hudson (always loyal to her itty-bitty bra and power-shouldered suit jacket mashups) would surely greenlight. In its manifestation as a tube top, either cropped or fully rolled out, the all-new bikini top can compliment a silky, midi slip skirt whose subtle movement around the knees contrasts the body-skimming silhouette. Choosing to go the camisole-adjacent route? There’s nothing better than pairing your fresh Convertible Bandeau Bikini Top acquisition with light-wash jeans or cutoffs this season.
One swim top, endless opportunities for factoring it into your summer styling equations.

While we have yet to get our hands on this exact Skims release, our shopping editors are intimately familiar with Skims’ lineup of bodysuits — most of which we’ve tested, reviewed, and even bought extras of during the recent Skims Bi-Annual Sale extravaganza. There are a lot of parallels between these Skims hero products and the new bikini top in question, especially where materials are concerned. Case in point: Both the Fits Everybody Square Neck Bodysuit and the Convertible Bandeau Bikini Top are made from a blend of polyamide and elastane. The former has exceptional tensile strength and is resistant to wear and tear, meaning it’s highly durable (an important factor to look for in swimwear you’re planning on wearing across many years). As a bonus, polyamide fibers are also moisture-wicking and block out UV rays. Sun protection and enviable, warm-weather style? Now that’s a combination we didn’t know we needed. The elastane, meanwhile, adds an invaluable element of stretch that ensures the piece is able to get right back to its original shape after wear, bypassing the sag that oftentimes accompanies swimsuits once they’re exposed to countless beach trips and tumble drying sessions.
When WWD Shop’s contributing shopping editor Claire Sullivan reviewed the Square Neck Bodysuit, she made sure to note the fact that it doesn’t require a bra, “due to the fabric’s inherent shaping abilities.” Likewise, this means you won’t need to put on a bra underneath your Skims swimsuit top when taking it from sand and sea to an evening event that requires a more put-together aesthetic. Bust support here, after all, is found in the top’s built-in shelf bra that flatters all the right places without ever feeling tight or digging into skin.
We know we said Skims’ multipurpose Convertible Bandeau Bikini Top will be the clothing choice of the summer, but it’s also essential to note that it will serve you well beyond Labor Day and into the chillier months — as the ideal base layer for luxuriously crafted cardigans, barn jackets, and other outerwear selections in your collection.
For now, though, there’s no need to look into the future. After you’ve booked a flight somewhere warm, stocked up on sunscreen, and secured a stellar manicure, the next step is visualizing yourself already sipping a tropical cocktail while laying in a cabana: wide-brimmed sun hat, beach tote, and tube top that doubles as a swim essential in tow. Then, proceed to buy said top before it sells out, also adding to cart its Convertible Bikini Bottom counterpart (capable of going from miniskirt to one-piece in the blink of an eye) and Skims’ wider Iconic Swim selections — the likes of the Sporty Square Neck One Piece in the eye-catching Terra hue and the barely there Micro Bandeau Bikini Top in Obsidian, proving that black is no longer just a winter color.
