During last night’s big game, lifestyle and beauty influencer Alix Earle promoted the Carl’s Jr. Hangover Burger in an advertisement (which, by the way, is free today if you sign up for the fast food restaurant’s rewards program in-app). The influencer and “Hot Mess” podcast host was wearing a barely there, star-shaped bikini top and mini-skirt, complete with a picture-perfect blowout. The hair care product responsible for those enviable strands? The brand-new Laura Polko Refresh Dry Shampoo, created by one of Hollywood’s favorite hairstylists.
The brand’s namesake and founder, Laura Polko, is an industry-leading and award-winning hairstylist with over 15 years of experience. Based in Los Angeles, she’s worked on the ‘dos of everyone from Charli D’Amelio to Gigi Hadid to Hailee Steinfeld and is behind a line of “clean, color-safe and dermatologically tested formulas” that “put top-shelf hair care within reach,” per her company’s site. Her product roster launched in December of last year and is available exclusively at Target.
The offerings span shampoos, conditioners, and hair masks that are skilled at hydrating locks, eliminating frizz, increasing the vibrancy of color-treated manes, and beyond.
The Laura Polko Refresh Dry Shampoo in particular, which spearheaded Earle’s head-turning look in the Super Bowl ad (dare we suggest it was even juicier than the bacon-loaded burger she was holding?), is a lightweight formula that instantly refreshes hair by absorbing oil and improving texture. Its two main-character ingredients are hydrolyzed keratin and argan oil (the good kind of oil to have in your hair!): nourishing from roots to ends and instantly locking in styles.
Laura Polko’s brand prides itself in being truly kind to hair — evident as ever in this dry shampoo that’s free from sulfates, parabens, and phthalates while also being color-safe, derm-tested, and cruelty-free. What’s more, it’s turbocharged by Laura Polko’s trademark Pro-Volu Plumping System, meant to provide thin or dull hair with volume, body, and movability. Earle’s breezy blowout benefitted from all of those adjectives, so it’s safe to say the dry shampoo not only works but also looks like it’s working.
Besides this new addition to the hair care company’s line, other fresh arrivals include the Ultimate Moisture Leave-In Conditioner and Color Protect Hair Mask. The former is a heat protectant that also tames frizz; the latter is a treatment meant to be applied twice a week to prolong hair color and make processed hair more resilient on the whole.
Alix Earle made it obvious that burgers loaded with four strips of crispy bacon, egg, and melted Swiss cheese might be the best cure for a hangover… and that the Laura Polko Refresh Dry Shampoo is the prime solution to “day three” hair needing a bombshell transformation, in just a few sprays.
